Juliet Lockhart

I am a multi-disciplinary artist, writer, and educator. I work thematically on individual projects with a focus on producing narratives around people or places, a dominant theme is voices that have been lost or silenced. I work with a variety of materials; paper, fabric or found objects and processes; collage, sculpture, and textiles.

My work focuses on the human condition, highlighting themes of love, loss, life and death. I primarily work in clay but also have a strong interest in glass and printmaking techniques. I continue to study locally and my work is held in the collections of Historic England and Southend Museums.

I flame-sculpt glass to create wearable art, tokens, talismans & totems. My glass tells stories, celebrates light, colour, detail and the beauty of the small. My process is essentially the scaled-down version of glassblowing, a heritage craft with roots in the Venetian tradition.
